Antibiotic Resistance - In this field they are focusing on identification of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the clinical samples. his group is working on Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), mechanism of Colistin resistance among Gram-negative bacteria, emerging tigecycline resistance in Klebsiella through hetero-resistance mechanisms, studies on the appearance of persister cells in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus.
Phage Therapy- His work on phages include, isolation and therapeutic characterization of bacteriophages infecting Gram-negative bacteria particularly Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii and Salmonella typhi, studies on appearance of bacteriophage insensitive mutants (BIMs) during in vitro phage therapy and application of bacteriophages to treat infections caused by Vibrio species in Shrimp and fishes.
